Thousand Island bliss
To me, this picture is about how things don't always go as planned. About effort and reward. About having to adapt, and making things work with whatever you're given.
Sometimes things just end up different than you imagined. And that's part of the fun, you never know what faith (or nature) throws in your path (or sleeping bag). This trip started on the first day of fall. Nature seemed to disagree, and on the drive over we got snowed in, to the point that we had to wait for snowplows to clear the road. We then continued to our planned destination: Mount Agassiz in the John Muir wilderness. I'd attempted it once before and failed. We started the hike and camped on the way, but due to the surprise snowfall had to bail on Agassiz. And then we had to bail on the John Muir wilderness. Three plan changes, and many miles of driving and hiking later, we ended up here: popular Thousand Island lake in the Ansel Adams wilderness. I'll save the story about my bivvy experience for another time...
